Hezky Česky has a cool vibe – good weather results in outside tables and deckchairs. The food and service are good, but the high charge for tap water was an issue for us.
Thursday 14th April was a warm sunny day in Prague – perfect for an al fresco lunch. I chose Hezky Česky because they have eggs benedict on the breakfast menu and hoped they’d still serve it at lunchtime.
We were lucky to find the last available outside table. The waiter brought a lunch menu and two complimentary non-alcoholic drinks.
I asked if it was possible to have eggs benedict and our waiter said he’d check with the chef. On his return, he said it was possible, but I was bemused to find that he removed my drink as ‘only the lunch specials include that’.
We ordered two 0.1l glasses of prosecco (89 Kč per glass) and a jug of tap water. We later had the jug re-filled. This appeared on the bill as four 0.5l glasses of water at 29 Kč per glass (116 Kč total). So, Hezky Česky is now on our list of Prague restaurants where tap water is free – sadly for all the wrong reasons.
We went for one lunch special, jacket potato with spicy chicken (149 Kč) and eggs benedict with salmon (199 Kč) – something I’d call eggs royale. Both dishes were nicely presented and tasty.
We later had two cappuccinos (59 Kč per) and shared a delicious strawberry cheesecake (120 Kč).
Anglická street is quite busy with traffic – the pavement/sidewalk is quite wide and so we weren’t bothered by that. The deckchairs are close to the street.
We enjoyed our lunch at Hezky Česky – just the high charge for tap water will dissuade us from another visit.
