Bowling v továrně (Bowling Factory), Prague 4

Bowling v továrně isn’t posh. The pins are on strings. The lanes and balls are a bit lumpy. But it’s my favourite bowling alley in Prague!

The place used to be a textile factory. Now it has four bowling lanes, table football and some electronic darts games.

The scoreboards are automatic. You don’t need to rent bowling shoes, although I assume stillettos would be frowned upon. But there are bowling shoes available.

The fridge on the right has 0.5l bottles of non-alcoholic Staropramen beer for, I think 37Kc. There’s also a full bar with several draft beers at local Czech prices.

At some point during your game, the pins will refuse to stand back up or the balls will stop returning – it’s all part of the charm of the place. The staff are amazing and juggle delivering your beers with maintaining the bowling alley equipment.

Kids have an amazing time here, free to walk halfway down the lane to bowl, running wild while their parents sit and have a beer – they can be pretty annoying if you’re in the next lane and I’m surprised there haven’t been any accidents.

If you’re hungry, the staff will order you delivery pizza.

Late nights, the scoreboards reward you with a picture of a half-naked woman if you hit a spare or a strike – there’s no political correctness here.

Bowling costs 200Kc per hour until 5pm and 300Kc after that.

So why do I choose to visit Bowling v továrně instead of a professional bowling alley such as the one under the Marriott Hotel in the centre https://www.bowling.cz/ ? Well apart from the price, the place is a great leveller – you could be a great bowler and still lose to an amateur because your ball wasn’t quite round.

Nearest trams are 6, 7, 11, 14, 18 and 24 stopping at either Náměstí Bratří Synků or Otakarova.
