Folimanka Nuclear Fallout Shelter (Pražský kryt Folimanka), Prague, Czech Republic – open this Saturday 14th September

Back in the 1950s/1960s, nuclear fallout shelters were all the rage. There are, apparently, nearly 800 civil protection shelters in Prague. The Folimanka shelter is one of the largest*. It has a capacity of 1,300 people, an area of 1332 m², armoured door, water wells and a 30kW electrical generator. This massive underground shelter is on … Continue reading Folimanka Nuclear Fallout Shelter (Pražský kryt Folimanka), Prague, Czech Republic – open this Saturday 14th September

Sisa Feher – Jazz at Le Bouquet, Vinohrady – Monday 9th September

Le Bouquet is an excellent wine and tapas bar in Vinohrady. The theme is based around the actress Dagmar Frýbortová (yes I hadn't heard of her either) who apparently lived in the building. Even if you don't know her, the classic black & white movie pictures add a nice atmosphere. I'd say there's room for 30 … Continue reading Sisa Feher – Jazz at Le Bouquet, Vinohrady – Monday 9th September

For restaurants, I'm more likely to look at 'restaurants near me' by highest ranking. I hate the TripAdvisor interface, both on PC and mobile. It's both clunky and … Continue reading Can you rely on TripAdvisor when choosing a restaurant in Prague?

1st April noon update: Hopefully those who read this article before noon soon realised that today was April Fool's Day - sadly it could easily be true, especially when you look at the mess UK Politicians have made of Brexit. David Černý’s Miminka (Babies) return to the Žižkov Tower, Prague

The Žižkov Tower (Czech: Žižkovský vysílač) stands 216 metres (709 feet) tall and was built between 1985 and 1992. The Tower was designed by architect Václav Aulický and structural engineer Jiří Kozák. The design of the tower divides opinion among Prague residents - it certainly doesn't blend sympathetically with the architecture of Prague. Imagine that someone … Continue reading David Černý’s Miminka (Babies) return to the Žižkov Tower, Prague
