Satsang only opened mid-September 2017 – we visited two weeks later and the place was already busy. Now I know why.
Krymská street has gone through a transformation recently – interesting new bars and restaurants seem to be opening up. It feels half-Žižkov, half-Vinohrady for those who know those areas. Satsang is a welcome addition.
Inside, the staff were really welcoming and we took a table next to the window – although not the one actually in the window, which has quite narrow seats.
A couple sat there later on and seemed quite happy.
The interior is cool; industrial, exposed brickwork, open kitchen. I took the following photos before the restaurant filled up.
The toilets continue the industrial theme.
We ordered a half-litre carafe of good Merlot 275 Kč. We were also given a bottle of water plus preserve-jar glasses.
Wanting to try as much as possible we went for the mezze for two (270 Kč) plus a side of deep-fried Taro (85 Kč), a special recommended by the chef – it was like a delicious soft potato.
The dips were amazing and there was plenty of flatbread to scoop them up. Next to the flatbread is the Taro.
The mezze also included bowls of vegetables, perfectly flavoured with various herbs and spices.
We could have stopped there, but wanted to try more. Here is the pappardelle with mushrooms (185 Kč). I also squeezed in a 2dl glass of the Merlot (110 Kč).
and a really lovely bowl called Farmářská zelenina (215 Kč).
We were completely stuffed – but also happy to have found a new place that we could include in our regular restaurant list. Total bill 1080 Kč plus tip.
I’ve deliberately not mentioned that Satsang is a vegetarian/vegan restaurant – I didn’t want you to be put off, or stop reading, until you’d heard how good it was.
