A few minutes from the Old Town Square and beneath the Grand Hotel Bohemia, lies an amazing and historic ballroom. The Boccaccio Hall has a neo-Rococo style, with lavish stucco decoration, gilt elements and traditional Czech crystal. We visited for Sunday brunch.

The price for Sunday brunch is 1490 Kč per person, which includes unlimited consumption of food, prosecco, wine, beer and soft drinks.

Brunch is held from 12.30 to 15.30. We arrived shortly after 12.30 and took the elevator down to floor -2. There was a short line, where coats were collected and soon, we were at our beautifully-laid table for six.

With everyone arriving at once, it took a while before our drink orders were taken and arrived. My recommendation would be to leave two bottles of water (still and sparkling) on each table, so that some drinks are instantly available. It could also work well if there was a tray of Prosecco glasses to take at the entrance.

Both red and white wines were good quality and our glasses topped up regularly.

All the staff were really friendly and professional. There was live piano music.

We visited the buffet.

There was a generous and delicious assortment of starters, but almost everything had goose as the main ingredient. We quickly realised that this was a brunch dedicated to the Czech tradition of eating goose on St. Martin’s Day (November 11th).

The main courses were lovely, but were again focussed around goose. There was also a good selection of desserts.

In addition to the buffet, there were several welcome tableside offerings; mini burgers (sliders), flambéed crêpes and even a glass of Slivovice.

We enjoyed ourselves so much that we were still at our table by 3.30pm. There wasn’t any pressure to leave and we could see another ‘naughty’ table on the other side of the room. We did leave soon after, so as not to overstay our welcome.

If you’re looking for a Sunday brunch with a wow factor, this is the place to visit. I can see from the hotel website there is another brunch on Sunday November 20th – could be the last one this year. Hopefully there will be more dates added next year, as I’d like to return and sample the traditional brunch offering that includes seafood and other meats.
