On Tuesday 1st September, the Czech ‘Club of Friends of Children of Children’s Homes’ held the thirteenth annual charity art auction featuring leading Czech artists, in the Žofín Restaurant, Prague.

I was lucky enough to be invited as the plus one of Czech artist Martina Krupičková who donated an oil on canvas painting ‘After a Storm in Karlín’.

We first listened to an amazing performance by soloist Jana Šrejma Kačírková.

Jana was congratulated by Czech presenter and broadcaster Alexander Hemala.

Alexander then started the auction with both humour and gusto.

The painting by Martina Krupičková sold for 45 000 Kč and we were happy to see that amount go to such a worthy cause.

Twenty-nine paintings and two sculptures were auctioned. A total of 882,000 Kč (£30k, US$40k, EUR33k) was raised in an evening of great music, food and friendship.

You can donate to this charity at any time. Just visit their website: http://klubprateldetidd.cz/ – only in Czech, but Google will translate for you.

After the auction, we were treated to a fantastic selection of food provided by https://www.zofinrestaurant.cz/en/ – the restaurant is now run by the Stones Catering Group and is a huge improvement over the the previous incarnation.
