Saturday May 25th, our critic, Barry Evans, attended ‘Sherlock Holmes: The Empty House’ performed by ‘The Mad and Merry Men’ theatre troupe at the Divadlo D21. The performance was fantastic –  the venue a friendly and comfortable place.

Divadlo D21 is hidden at the back of a courtyard off Záhřebská street. There’s a cozy bar for pre-performance drinks.

Everyone received a themed newsletter Midnight Gazette on entering the theatre.

The theatre is small, with comfortable seats. Seats aren’t allocated.

In this episode, we encountered card cheats, old stories solved, two murders (at least), Dr Watson and Sherlock reunited in Baker Street, Mrs Hudson in the story (at last), the murderer escapes but Mary Watson is rescued in the nick of time.

Phew ! A fantastic romp through Victorian London with our favourite characters.

One last episode to go in this year-long series of Conan Doyle inspired Sherlock Holmes mystery stories. I can’t wait for the most evil and dangerous man in London to appear…

The final play is not to be missed – more details soon.

The following video shows some scenes from ‘The Musgrave Ritual’ performed in March.
