The ČSA flight OK767 from Paris to Prague Václav Havel Airport on Saturday 26th October 2024 will be the last operated by ČSA with an OK flight identifier. From 27th October, the airline will be absorbed into Smart Wings and flights will have a QS code.

It’s a tragic end for the World’s fifth oldest operating airline. Founded on October 6th 1923 – it was originally called ČSA Československé státní aerolinie (Czechoslovak State Airlines). First cargo flight was October 29th 1923.

Just in case you wondered about the older airlines: KLM (1919), Avianca (1919), Qantas (1920) and Aeroflot (1923).

Back on their 95th birthday, Czech Airlines produced a video that shows changes in cabin crew uniforms over the last 95 years. The Czech Republic doesn’t suffer from unnecessary political correctness and so you’ll find only female cabin crew featured. Models used in the video were real Czech Airlines cabin crew members.

Those that remember the good old days of ČSA, with space-available upgrades to business, for Gold card holders, may want to shed a tear.

I discovered a ‘press-out and make’ dolly kit saved from a flight during a simpler time. Click to enlarge, then print and cut – you’ll find that even today it provides hours of entertainment while you dress and undress a member of the cabin crew!

Some nice sky art was created by the pilot of Aero Bristell NG-5 designation OK-BIN.

Smart Wings advise that the ČSA brand won’t disappear completely. The two remaining Airbus A320 aircraft will continue to fly in ČSA colours. The same for four new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, of which the first two are to be delivered at the end of this year and the other two in the first half of 2025. All aircraft will fly with a QS code.
