On Liliová Street, just by Betlémské náměstí, V Zátiší is a veteran of Prague’s fine-dining scene, yet it remains fresh and contemporary, with a renewed interior and a tasting menu celebrating 35 years in the city.
We were welcomed at the door, our coats taken, and shown to our table. A few months on from the refurbishment, everything feels bright and new — although we couldn’t help feeling nostalgic for the Czech glass ornaments that once sat in each window.
All the staff were friendly and professional. Prices correct as March 2026. Zátiší Club members receive a 10% discount on both drinks and food.
As a member of Zátiší Club, I was sent a message on my birthday:
Celebrate your special day with us.
Each guest at your table will receive a glass of Champagne on us.
That’s a nice gesture as the wine in V Zátiší is expensive. My birthday was a few weeks ago, but the offer was still valid.
We both chose the ’35 years in Zátiší – tasting menu’ (4 courses 1695 Kč per person). A carafe of water 95 Kč and we weren’t charged for refills.
The bread basket contained some interesting breads, nice, although nothing amazing. The butter was still hard. Don’t worry! Things improved with the small canapes in the right of the picture below.
And then, a boozy amuse bouche – cherry in what tasted like Crème de Cerise Griotte.
Having drunk the champagne, we ordered two 0.1l glasses of Rioja 2021- Reserve Marques De Riscal at 290 Kč. An entire bottle is on the menu for 1 390 Kč and so I’d expect the 0.1l to be 200 Kč. If you think you might each be ordering another glass, buy a bottle!
The beef tartare with Jerusalem artichoke, mushrooms, egg yolk and black truffle – presented in an interesting way and was delicious.
The Sea bass with celery fettuccine, fennel and Champagne was slightly lacking in presentation, but the sauce was amazing and the celery fettucine innovative.
The Veal Wellington with root vegetables, turnips, kale and a Périgourdine sauce was the star of the night. The sauce was incredible, the veal tender and the pureed root vegetable, a delight.
As it was my ‘birthday’ and despite confessing that it was a few weeks earlier, I was presented with a lovely birthday wish, happily without fuss or any singing.
The Mango crème brûlée with white chocolate was an interesting and tasty take on the classic dessert.
This was followed by some delicious petit fours.
I visited the bathroom and was pleased to see they still provide cotton towels for hand drying – a cute new addition is the sound of birdsong!
We really enjoyed our dinner at V Zátiší and would recommend a visit.
The ’35 Years’ menu caused us to reminisce about our visits to Zátiší group venues. V Zátiší was the first restaurant opened by Sanjiv Suri in 1991. We didn’t visit until 1997, the same year as the lovely Bellevue opened. We used to cross the street from Bellevue and dance the night away at the Corona Salsa Bar Latino Café – now the Mlýnec restaurant. Across the river in Malá Strana, there was U Patrona (super fine dining), Avalon (fine-dining) and Circle Line (casual dining upstairs from Avalon). All were great places.
These days, only V Zátiší and Mlýnec remain in the group, although there are rumours that Bellevue may re-open and another completely new restaurant may be developed. Let’s hope so!
