A new Sherlock Holmes themed pub ‘Dear Watson‘ opened in Karlín – their Guinness is 129 Kč. Šedý Pes remains least expensive at 99 Kč for a 0.5l. Most expensive are U Sadu, The Golden Kettle and Gabby’s.
Guinness 0.0 is now stocked by more pubs in Prague. Many charge the same price for a 0.44l can as their regular draught 0.5l Guinness. Always ask for a 0.5l glass as you need to pour out the entire can when opened.
Price is the only measure used here
You may decide it’s worth paying a little more for an expertly-poured Guinness, or for the ambience of your favourite pub, although I wouldn’t pay Gabby’s or Golden Kettle prices even if the Guinness was poured by Miss Ireland.
We also realise that Czech beer is great and nobody is saying that Guinness is better – its just an alternative drink, once loved by former Czech President Václav Havel.

I eepect these prices for a 0.4l but many of the ‘Irish’ bars charge over 100Kc for a 0.25. Yes, a quarter pint! And, don’t get me started on the price they charge ofr local beer. 120Kc for Krusovice or Staropramen. It should be illegal. Absolutely shocking. I wonder if the tourists will ever wise up to the fact that they’re paying the same here in these bars as they do back home. It doesn’t make sense when most of them spend all their time in these pubs and see nothing of Prague.
