Mazel, on Záhřebská street in Vinohrady, is the latest restaurant offering from the Jsme Kolektiv restaurant group.

Those familiar with Gram, the previous occupier of the space, will be pleased to see the atrium remains full of plants and the aircon still cool.

Staff are all friendly and professional. Prices correct as of October 2025.

A 0.4l Budvar 33 is 69Kč. A homemade lemonade 75Kč. A 0.5l of ‘filtered’ water is a ridiculous 75 Kč.

Starter of leek ragout with poached egg, Jerusalem artichoke mousse, crispy potatoes, fresh truffle, chives 295 Kč was delicious.

The matured beef burger, bacon jam, cheddar, truffle mayonnaise, salad, pickled cucumber (375 Kč) is on a par with some of the best burgers in Prague.

The pumpkin tartlet, gingerbread, caramel, chocolate, apples in calvados 155 Kč was delight, although the pastry crust was hard to cut without sending the entire tartlet flying across the table.

The back wall tables used to be our favourite, but the addition of another row of tables means the area is noisier than before. We now book the main atrium, which also has the benefit of natural light and more plants.

We are still enjoying our visits to Mazel and it’s definitely an improvement to Gram, where we’d stopped to visit. Gram started out really well, then increased prices and reduced portion sizes. There is a danger that Mazel could fall into the same trap – prices have increased since they opened a few months ago and the 75 Kč charge for a half litre of water is just price gouging.
