La Casa di Erminio is a beautiful Italian restaurant just a short walk from Jiřího z Poděbrad. Now under new management, we returned to see the changes.
The restaurant, with a summer terrace, looks the same from outside.
Inside, the dark walls have been repainted.
The staff and new owner are professional and friendly. A carafe of tap water is 50 Kč, a 0.15l glass of good Primitivo an expensive 230 Kč.
A delicious basket of homemade bread and amuse-bouche (anchovies, foam, basil oil) arrived.
We had planned to order a whole sea bass, but they had none left. Instead, we went for a mixed fish grill (790 Kč) and potatoes al forno (140 Kč). Plenty of good quality fish, although arrived a little cold, probably waiting for the potatoes which were hot.
An amazing tiramisu – normally 210 Kč, but was complimentary as we were celebrating a birthday.
Also complimentary, were two excellent digestives and that wasn’t just us – was also offered to other diners.
Miniature hand towels are still provided in the bathrooms and that’s a nice touch.
We really enjoyed our dinner. However, retaining the Erminio name means that it’s difficult not to compare new and original, good and bad:
- New owner very friendly. Erminio never engaged with us, although his staff were excellent.
- New price of Primitivo is almost double that of original, carafe of water is no longer free.
- You’ll need to order fish in advance to be sure it’s available, previously didn’t have to do that.
La Casa Di Erminio remains a good place to go for seafood in a fine-dining environment.
