Arthur’s Pub is just a short walk from Florenc metro station. Pub is a very modest name for what is a beautiful bar and restaurant. It’s just a pity they sometimes have ‘technical issues’.
We visited Monday 5th August 2024 and this wasn’t our first visit.
The huge interior of Arthur’s Bar is nicely presented.
An impressive bar.
A conservatory.
Large rooms.
The garden is lovely.
A 0.4l Guinness 110 Kč – the menu does offer a 0.5l for 135 Kč.
A bowl of whitebait (205 Kč) was a bit on the small side, but delicious.
We both ordered the Spicy Doll burger, brioche bun, onion chutney, 150g beef, pepper mayonnaise and jalapeños (295 Kč) plus fries (135 Kč).
The whitebait bowl was collected and we started to wish we’d ordered the 0.5l Guinness. After 45 minutes, with none of the staff in attendance, I went inside and found a waitress – she was surprised we hadn’t received our food and said she’d see what happened. Another 15 minutes and our burgers arrived. We asked the waiter who delivered the food why it had taken an hour – he apologised and said it was down to ‘technical difficulites’.
The burgers and fries were really good.
It would have been a nice gesture if the staff had offered to comp one drink or the starter – they didn’t and our bill was for exactly what we ordered.
On a previous visit we had the Fish and Chips (425 Kč) which is good, but not as good as Beckett’s Irish Pub which is about 100 Kč less.
On that same visit we had the Wild Boar (435 Kč) from the specials menu.
Sadly, the Wild Boar appeared as 545 Kč on our bill. The waiter apologised and refunded 110 Kč. I’m sure this was human error when keying in the specials, but as with everywhere you visit, it’s good to check your bill.
We really want to love Arthur’s Pub. The place is beautiful and the food is really good. They just need to resolve their ‘technical issues’.
