The Vietnamese restaurant, Yam Yam, benefits from its location opposite Vyšehrad metro station and the Congress Centre Hall. It’s really a restaurant of convenience rather than a destination.

I imagine Yam Yam also receives guests staying at the Hotel on the other side of the metro station. The majority of transitory customers means that the restaurant doesn’t need to rely on repeat business. The staff are reasonably efficient, but seem disinterested.

The interior is clean and modern. It was quiet, apart from one large table in the side room, but filled up later with people who had attended a concert at the Congress Centre.

There isn’t any Czech beer on the Yam Yam menu. A 0.5l Stella Artois was 70 Kč.

The spring rolls with chicken (155 Kč) were well-presented, but didn’t contain much chicken.

I asked for a red duck curry, but that they had ran out of duck. I went for red chicken curry (235 Kč) with jasmine rice (45 Kč). Again, nicely presented, but with almost no chicken. Imagine if you chopped up the contents of three McDonalds chicken nuggets – that would be the amount of chicken.

Just to compare, this is the red duck curry with rice included (289 Kč) from Old Hanoi in Smíchov.

Each table has a QR code that, when scanned, shows your bill and allows you to pay and add a tip. Then you just get up and leave, hopefully never to return!
