Yesterday I wrote about the food delivery services in Prague. Today, I thought I’d write about the food I ordered and which restaurant delivered the best food. Obviously, this isn’t an exhaustive list as it is driven by my location and cuisine preferences. It’s also difficult to compare a pizza with a complete restaurant meal. These ratings are based on food quality, how tasty, value and packaging. I usually add a 30 Kč tip for the courier irrespective of the cost of the order, type of food etc.
Giallorossa Vinohradská
Order | Pippo Pizza (219 Kč), Diavola Pizza (219 Kč) |
Price | 492 Kč including a delivery fee of 54 Kč |
Delivery Service | Wolt |
Two perfect thin crust pizzas – I especially like the truffle oil on the Pippo.

McDonalds Eden
Order | Double Big Tasty Bacon (2 x 129 Kč) |
Price | 307 Kč including a delivery fee of 49Kč |
Delivery Service | Uber Eats |
The Big Tasty is probably the only burger I have from McDonalds – it’s a good burger for the price. I chose Eden instead of IP Pavlova because it’s a drive-thru, whereas IP is a window with a group of delivery guys standing next to each other.
I struggled over the ratings for the Big Tasty. Of course a burger from Dish would likely be better, albeit three times the price. In the US, I don’t even eat at McDonalds when looking for fast food; on the West Coast, I’d have In’n’Out Burger and elsewhere a Wendys. But this Big Tasty was perfectly packaged and delivered, was tasty, is excellent value and the ingredients appear good quality. So please don’t blame me for putting 10/10.

Edamame by Café Buddha
Order | Salmon and Tuna Maki 16 piece Set (222 Kč), Veggie gyoza 4 pieces (135 Kč), Beef dim sum 4 pieces (145 Kč), Springs rolls 2 pieces (99 Kč) |
Price | 669 Kč including a packing fee of 44 Kč and a delivery fee of 24 Kč |
Delivery Service | Wolt |
There’s a snobbery about Cafe Buddha that irritates me. Their food is really tasty, but they nickel and dime you when you dine in the restaurant and that has extended to their delivery – small portions and a 44 Kč charge for packaging.

Emi Restaurant
Order | Spring roll (60 Kč), Duck and Lemongrass curry (2 x 179 Kč), Jasmin rice (40 Kč) |
Price | 497 Kč including a delivery fee of 39 Kč |
Delivery Service | Wolt |
Emi inhabit the space that used to be U Emy Destinnové. They produce good Vietnamese/Thai food and the duck curry is worth ordering. The packaging was leaking and messy on both occasions we ordered.

Las Adelitas Americká
Order | Fiesta Pack (625 Kč) |
Price | 664 Kč including a delivery fee of 39 Kč |
Delivery Service | Wolt |
The Fiesta Pack is supposed to contain four chicken Flautas (deep-friend tacos), four mushroom quesadillas, a beef burrito, chilli salsa, chilli tomato sauce, sour cream, re-fried beans, iceberg lettuce, red onion. Ours was missing one of the chilli sauces, but most importantly missing the sour cream. The chicken Flautas weren’t very good. The quesadillas and burrito were good.

QQ Asian Kitchen
Order | Duck Betutu Curry (2 x 240 Kč) |
Price | 534 Kč including a delivery fee of 54 Kč. |
Delivery Service | Wolt |
QQ were much higher on this list having scored 10/10 on all five tests. However, I ordered their Honey miso gratined salmon w/ cashews (280 Kč) last night 16th April and it was really disappointing: A ridiculously small piece of Salmon, surrounded by Brussels sprouts (which I hate and weren’t shown as part of the dish). I left a comment for QQ on Wolt and heard nothing, so today I emailed QQ and waiting to see what they say.

Agora
Order | Keftakadia (165 Kč), Souvlaki (2 x 115 Kč), Pita bread (55 Kč), Baklava (115 Kč) |
Price | 649 Kč including a delivery fee of 84 Kč |
Delivery Service | Wolt |
I ordered chicken Souvlaki without onions but the delivery was pork Souvlaki with onions. It was still pretty tasty, but expensive and not what I ordered. I really didn’t like the Baklava.

Bruxx
Order | Belgian Meatballs with roast potatoes (235 Kč), Two Rabbit legs stewed with Abbey beer, apple and cranberry jelly, roasted seasonal mushrooms, strong gravy and home-made wide noodles (255 Kč) |
Price | 529 Kč including a delivery fee of 39 Kč |
Delivery Service | Wolt |
Bruxx could have easily been the best from this list. Their packaging was really good (although plastic) and the food was amazing. However, we then ordered two Boeuf Bourguignon (235 Kč x 2) a few nights later and although tasty, the dish wasn’t a Boeuf Bourguignon.

Always order local and choose a dish that won’t suffer from a quick microwave reheat
If you choose a restaurant that isn’t local the delivery fee will be higher and the food will likely be cold. Couriers can often carry multiple deliveries and if you are third on the list then the food will suffer.
Almost everything you have delivered will require a zap in the microwave – so choose a dish that won’t suffer from that process.
Stop using delivery apps when the current restrictions are lifted
All the food delivery operators take a hefty percentage from the restaurants they serve. You often see platitudes from them that mention how they are ‘glad to support businesses during these trying times‘.
If these operators really wanted to support restaurants, they’d offer free restaurant registration and halve the commission fee they charge on each order – I’ve read that can be 30-40%.
When restaurants do open, please support them by visiting and dining in the restaurant. Not only will they save the commission fee, you’ll enjoy nicely-plated, hot food, delivered to your table by a lovely waitress, while you enjoy a glass of wine within the ambience of the restaurant.
