November 2019 update: It looks like the restaurant closed – amazing as the busiest time of the year is here.

The Midtown Grill is part of the Prague Marriott Hotel. The Marriott is opposite the Hilton on V Celnici street in central Prague. Both run an all-you-eat Sunday brunch with unlimited wine, beer, soft drinks and hot beverages.

One of the plus points of the Midtown Grill is more space and large round tables. The Hilton Zinc restaurant is smaller and their largest round table is for six people. We were seven adults and two children and were able to comfortably fit around one of the Marriott’s large round tables.

Here’s a smaller table:

There were bottles of still and sparkling water on our table and our friendly waiter (he really was despite the pic below!) poured a welcome glass of Prosecco and Robby Bubble non-alcoholic sparkling soda for the children – I’ve asked the Hilton several times for Robby Bubble but they never serve it, which is a shame as the kids like to join in the toast.

He continued to pour red and white wine for us throughout our meal.

We hadn’t realised when we booked that the brunch back in December, that January 20th was an Asian-themed brunch – but that was fine for us and the core components of the brunch were all still present anyway.

There was a sushi station.

There was also a Thai Curry, some spring rolls and dim sum on the hot food station.

There were oysters.

But no lobster – if lobster is important to you then choose the Hilton brunch as they always seem to offer lobster and they have plenty of it!

There were plenty of prawns.

And cured meats.

A clown visited most tables and made balloon animals – it must be tough on clowns these days as it’s fashionable to say you hate clowns. You can almost see the sadness in his eyes!

The meat carvery is steak and more steak – it is really good steak. The Hilton carvery tends to have a larger selection of carvery meats, but equally they seem to go cold quickly.

Plenty of cheese to justify another glass of red.

There was a wide range of delicious puddings.

And a fresh ice cream making station, which was fun to watch, even though the end result wasn’t really that special.

Coffee and tea are included.

Everyone really enjoyed their brunch. We were especially impressed that the staff had noticed that one of the adults in our party had only consumed the welcome Prosecco and so charged them the lower, non-alcohol, rate of 1090 Kč – the Hilton don’t offer a non-alcohol rate. If you aren’t drinking, it’s probably worth mentioning it in the beginning rather than rely on the restaurant at the end – but well done Marriott!

You can probably guess from this review that I prefer the Marriott over the Hilton – I’ve added a pros and cons list at the end to help you choose.

1090 Kč per person; 195 Kč alcohol drink package includes beer and house wine.
Children up to 6 years eat free; children aged 7 -12 years 490 Kč.

Brunch runs from noon until 3pm.

So the Marriott wins on most comparisons including pricing, especially if you are bringing kids or not drinking alcohol. But choose the Hilton if you are a small group of friends, who all want to drink, have no kids and love lobster.
